This is a common picture of many stores employees during our normal bad weather complements of Workers Compensation blindness and by the very same people we work for. If any similary to your situation is pure coincidence.
Advise to you all: Document everything and get copies of your records. In the workers’ compensation system, as in the legal system, “If it wasn’t written down, it didn’t happen.” If you have a claim, you should start a file and track everything regarding your case. Keep a log of all your conversations with adjusters, lawyers, and doctors, and send them follow-up letters outlining the important issues. Track your benefits to ensure that you are receiving appropriate coverage. If your claim ends up in the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Boards, (WCAB, the WC court), these records support you in your claim. You will also want to carefully review any reports written regarding your injury, especially if the insurance company sends you out for an evaluation. These reports will have a major impact on your claim, so you want to verify that the information accurately reflects your case.
Verbal and other abuses at work it can happen too:Some abusers are women bosses too.
Because most abusers are in a position of being highly trusted and usually appear to be the "good guy" to bystanders, often the woman's coworkers will blame the victim for the abuse. They may try to get her to believe she is emotionally less healthy than they are, because this "nice" supervisor is not abusing them. On top of this, most verbal abuse occurs in one-on-one meetings where there is no witness to help validate the woman's experience of what her boss has just done to wound her. Perhaps slowly she begins to wonder if everyone is right - if she is doing something to deserve the abuse. She begins to doubt her perceptions because everyone else does. If she believes the abuse is her fault, she will often try harder and harder to please the boss (or to "fix" herself), only to find out that the blaming and put-downs have nothing to do with her. They are about his need for control over her.
What should a woman do if she believes she is being verbally abused in the workplace? I think there are several answers, depending on the individual and the situation. First, remember the abuser is not going to understand that he/she is abusive if she tries to explain this to him/her. This is not his reality - he/she will see any explanations as her weakness. The best thing is just to tell him to "stop", that his behavior is abusive and will not be tolerated. In the best scenario, this will bring him/her to a realization that he is abusive and he will be open to trying to change his behavior. All too frequently, however, this confrontation about the abuse may actually make the behavior escalate as he/she struggles for control. He/she may accuse her of attacking him! He is often in a position to end her employment or make her even more miserable, and she may be forced to find another job.
Fortunately, there are some avenues a woman can pursue if she can substantiate that she is in a hostile or abusive work environment. These could include the institution's human resources or affirmative action offices, a professional mediator or attorney, or the EEOC. The most important thing for the woman to keep in mind is to trust her perceptions and to stand up for her right to be treated with respect in the workplace. This can be tough, as the all too frequent response from her coworkers is to blame the victim and support the perpetrator. For these reasons, it is imperative that she find supportive friends, a support group or a qualified counselor as she works to resolve this painful situation. Above all, she must believe that the abuse is not her fault! The abusive supervisor is accountable.

We are thinking of everyone on the TEXAS Gulf Coast and praying for the best for you all. As people that have experiened this recently. BEWARE! As soon as that hurricane moves off, like the moment afterward, they will expect you to RE-OPEN those stores that have "power." Been there done that. We saw this happen in Lousiana. It didn't matter if you personally lost power or had damage, or your town was under seige. We feel badly for all of you in harms way and wish you the best.
Dear Ed No one is mad at you. That is your blog and your have every right to say what you wanted. It is just that after so many months names were being named. People were not afraid to name names. Employees were coming forward. They had enough. We said THANK GOD for those people who were not afraid. We had been working very hard to have someone who was wanting to help us with all the abuses at TM. If you ever knew how happy we were, then it all stopped. TM knew exactly how to stop it. That person was supposed to get the blog off track. That is what happened. TM won again. We were ready to move. My heart is broken. My prayers to all of our fellow TM employees who have been hurt in any way by TM. My prayers to all the TM employees who are being hurt by the terrible hurricanes. Please let us know what we can do to help you. I know TM is not doing anything except to tell you to open the store.
I am back with the blog.I just went to Forth Worth to run away from Rita. It took me 19 hours to get there and 5 to come back.No gas on any gas stations along the roads we took.My area is ok but again, no gas.Like I wrote on Eds blog I saw many people suffering along 45 people helping each other too but others like in my case stoled my daughter's debit and credit cards while we were outside the car on hwy 45 South side going North taking a break.I cannot believe people will plan to do this kind of stuff while you are on distress and running away from danger. This looked like the movie meteor all the hwys like a parking lot going at 1 mile per hour.I am very sad for those that died on hwy 45 almost there you can say........God help us all.Keep up the good word.
Please continue with your complains and abuse of power under TM. We cannot stop or let this people let us down. Once they get the same treatment or they suffer any injuries and nobody cares they will understand our blog.We have proff and this is important for them to know that. Also it may seems that they will never be a victim of TM like it happen to me.I remember reading a blog way before Ed's around 1999 and read a story about this lady that it was fired for no good reason. This is way I am telling you this is not a new thing.Don't be afraid in the mean time get your resume ready and update it.Many jobs at hospitals, delivery, drivers and schools that you can perform without killing yourself.Go into the school Districts and check the HR board .Don't forget they have benefits that TM don't have for part time workers. You will be able to rest for the summer. After all this years with TM you have to think about what is going to happen to your body in the near future and nobody will care if you can lift a finger or not.Who is behind a desk or telling you what to do can keep doing this but you don't.On your day off,If you need to learn computer stuff go to the nearest unemployment office they will allow you to practice or get tutorials for free.No High School Diploma?need GED? they have many places for you to get it.Go to your nearest library and find the books about resume they are very good.Try the US postal service the libraries have the practice CD's. for the tests. We need the blog running but also take care of your healthy future.
Mo welcome back we all hope you and your family are well. Let us know if there is anything that we can do. I guess everyone is giving in their own way. If you know of anything that is not being though of, let us know. I am happy you are back. Now people can blog again. It has been too quite. We can't let this happen. I know the storms are more important than what TM is doing. Whenever anyone gets a chance to give detail information, please do so. We need to move along. I know TM is very happy that we have been silent. That is okay. It was out of respect and concern for our fellow employees who were fighting for their lives. Whenever you are ready and it feels right all are welcome to start talking again. TM is a different kind of fight, but it is for your life too.
Good Morning info was obtained from people in Ga. We have Maine, Texas, all the north eastern states, Ca. and Lo. If there are other states that use this blog or Ed's blog, please let us know. We are an excellent vehicle to get the info out. Please understand this is to help all of us. This is not for one person or one areas gain. When this goes, it will help all who have been abused, injured and fired for no real reason. The sad thing that we all have in common is that the people who were hired to get things in shape didn't even know that they were being used to hurt and abuse people. The criminality happened when these people in charge did not say no. For fear of their own employment, or for the love of power that these powerless people do not have in any area of their lives did not step up and say this is wrong. Most of them have gone on to abuse people in ohter companies. I do not understand how they are hired in other companies after the devastation and injured people who can't go on to get another job. Do not the new employers care? Are they not worried that they will be exposed. If they follow their same pattern of management, they are opening up the new company for the same legal actions as they have opened up for TM.
To your knowledge TM stores stayed open until 3:00pm on Friday the day mostly all Houstonians were suppose to evacuate. Many employees had to stay behing because by the time they closed the stores and finish doing TM stuff it was too late to get ready, buy gas and get out of town. Some did try to get out but did not make it far enough and had to come back to their houses because the roads looked like parking lots and all gas stations had no more gas.I feel sorry for all of you that still working for this selfish company that kept employees working until the last minute. Some stores opened on Sunday with two employees to do all the work no rest time and many returns of course.
TM has not repect for the law. When there is a state of emergency. Not one can be on the road. In this case people were on the road to evacuate. They do not care that a state of emergency was called. How do we expect TM to respect us when they do not respect the law?
Let it be known that the "Hurricane supplies" that came to help those "displaced New Orleans Tuesday Morning employees" didn't really go to most of the displaced. Some Managers, took much of the supplies for their own personal use, to the disgust of the other employees who watched it happen and didn't get involved because ethically it was WRONG!!! These Managers did not hide this and everyone knows they do not live in hurricane ravaged areas and did not need these items. This isn't to mention the FACT that some employees of T.M. that do not live in hurricane ravaged areas have filed for FEMA monies and other various help. This is sick. IF they will steal from the government, they will steal from you Tuesday Morning.
After a year out of work, my operation paid by my health insurance trying to find a job that will allow me to use my skills and experience I found a job in Human Resourses. I do new employees orientations and explain to them in detail their rights and what the company will provide to them after becoming full time(benefits, stocks, health insurance and explanation of OSHA and what is for, Sexual Harrasement and many trainings and services provided to help employees in case something comes up on a daily basis. Corporate is in another state but I am in another state doing HR locally.WOW! My injury still there every day and still coping with the lack of strengh i used to have. So even after my operation I never went back to normal use of it.So I finnaly doing what I love to do!!
